Is The Quran Only For Arabs

The Quran is a timeless miracle from Allah, revealed in the Arabic language. Let’s explore why Allah chose Arabic and what makes it unique for understanding His divine message.

The Quran in Arabic

Allah explicitly states in the Quran that it is revealed in Arabic. For example, in Surah Taha (20:113), Allah says: "And thus We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran."

In Surah Shu’ara, Allah mentions Jibreel delivering the Quran to Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم in Arabic (26:195): "And truly, it is [revealed in] a clear Arabic language."

Why Arabic?

Allah chose Arabic for profound reasons. In Surah Ibrahim (14:4), He says: "We sent no messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them." This ensured that the message was understood by the people to whom it was first sent.

Another reason is the unmatched expressiveness of the Arabic language. In Surah Yusuf (12:2), Allah says: "We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so that you may understand." Arabic’s rich vocabulary and precision make it ideal for conveying divine guidance.

A Unique Example: Surah Yusuf

Consider the story of Prophet Yusuf عليه السلام. It originally occurred in Hebrew, but Allah narrated it in Arabic to highlight the language’s eloquence. Despite the language shift, the story’s emotions, lessons, and details are even more vividly expressed in Arabic.
